Hi! Welcome to my blog. This website is devoted to tackling the lack of media representation for queer people by serving as a resource with suggestions for well written/filmed books, TV shows, movies, and more starring queer characters, both real and fictional. Each tab on this website contains media that I have reviewed, summarized, and scored under a 5 star system (nothing below 3 stars will be posted). The star system is scored as follows:

  • 3 stars: Good. With anything fictional, this will mean that the characters were dealt with fairly. This means that they weren’t used merely for shock value (killing off the queer character for no real reason) and they weren’t just there to fill the role of a trope (the flamboyant gay best friend, etc.). A three means that there is room for improvement, but that the book/TV show/movie is worth reading/viewing.
  • 4 stars: Very good. In fiction, this means that the story line is well-written and the characters are relate-able and compelling. These are things that I read/viewed and loved, not only because they were enjoyable but because the queer characters had a story arch that I wanted to know more about.
  • 5 stars: This rating will be reserved for content that really knocked me off my feet. The characters are so real they fly off the page (or off the screen) and the world is an incredible one to get lost in.

*A note on ratings: Non-fiction will also be rated using this star system, but it will be less focused on characters and more on content. In non-fiction, I will be looking for stories queer musicians, YouTubers, and non-fiction writers who tell their stories well.

All media will be rated on an opinion-basis. There is no real standard way to rate characters and stories in objective terms, so these posts will be entirely opinion based. It is totally fine if you disagree with me on any count, and I will be leaving each post open for comments. If you agree or disagree, go ahead and start a conversation! I will also have an email open for this site if you want to send me any questions or comments. This can be accessed in the “About Me” page. Also check out the Representation Resources tab to read more about why representation is important in forming an identity.

Again, I hope you all find this website useful to find relate-able media content! And don’t worry about spoilers with my summaries; I clearly mark where spoilers begin on each post, so enjoy scrolling!
